Australian Jackfruit as alternative protein

The Australian Jackfruit industry will receive significant funding from AgriFutures Australia to develop value added products. The project “aims to help Australian growers and processors achieve their vision of making Australian-grown, value-added products a reality.” With companies like Singapore based KARANA Foods already selling jackfruit based mince and dumplings there’s obviously an opportunity in the plantbased meat space as part of the project.

We’re going to need all sources of protein to feed our 10 billion in 2050 and the growing middle classes. This project could be a great part of ensuring Australian agriculture continues to be a major contributor to our GDP.
