Food from wood!

The range of alternative proteins continues to expand and one of the latest is food from wood from Arbiom. Their SylPro protein “is made from fermented and broken down wood” that would go to waste or be burned. So in essence they’re expanding the availability of protein to include a normally unavailable source.

The company is “adamant that the wood for SylPro will come from scrap from manufacturing processes that would otherwise be discarded, or trees that are dead”. So it won’t come from trees felled expressly for protein manufacturing.

It can be used in place of soy etc for plantbased food products, offering yet another source of protein.

Arbiom plan for FDA approval by end 2021 so we could see products by 2022.
