Let’s bust some energy myths! Myth 1 – “We’ll always need fossil fuels or nuclear energy to guarantee electricity supply.” BUSTED! Contrary to some we don’t need to fall back on expensive old technologies to solve current and future problems. New technologies continue to advance exponentially and building and locking into any hardware with a 60 year lifespan, like nuclear powerplants, make no sense. Would you like to drive an 60 year old car, or even one 40 years old? How about watching a 50 year old TV set? Locking into a particular set of technological hardware for decades makes no sense, particularly with the current rate of change.
As RethinkX says; “Contrary to the predominant narrative in public discourse worldwide, it is possible to meet all electricity needs with a 100% solar, wind and batteries system in California, Texas and New England–and by extension the rest of the continental United States as well. Moreover, because the majority of the global population lives in areas with more abundant solar and wind resources than New England, it follows that SWB can meet their electric power needs also.”
“A global clean energy system run by 100% SWB is both possible and inevitable for nations all over the world, regardless of geography and weather fluctuations.”
I’m not planning any time in the future to fire up my 60 year old car to go home and watch my 50 year old TV, powered by 60 year old nuclear technology, how about you?
