What’s wrong with this picture?
My biggest criticism is that we’ve long prioritised low-cost imports over strategic resilience. Right now, nearly 60% of our urea supply is at risk because it’s tethered to one of the most volatile regions on Earth. When a single geopolitical spark in the Middle East can threaten our entire winter planting cycle… well, we have a problem.
I was reading a recent report on the Iran war’s impact on our farmers, and it’s clear: the future belongs to those who trade efficiency for resilience. We don’t just need to grow food; we need to grow security!
