Are the Beyond Meat‘s problems and those of the plantbased sector due to the “considerable gap between the strong health credentials of our products and a broader color narrative that is now afoot” and that “this gap appears to have widened”?
Simply trying to “educate” consumers and “calling in third-party organizations to further inform their consumers on the health benefits of its products.” doesn’t address the core problem so many products suffer from; poor taste. Food companies know that to be successful they need to first offer consumers a product that tastes good at a competitive price. Health comes after that.
What we need is a step change in the taste of plantbased products.
