Where will we get our food in space? That’s the question posed by The Deep Space Food Challenge. These technologies are designed for use in a closed system like a spacecraft; but guess what? Our planet is also a closed system! As I mention, many of these technologies can be used to deal with the problem that there’s simply not enough arable land and fresh water on the planet to feed 10 bn in 2050.
